Motorola Milestone Android 2.2 Update Delayed To Q1, 2011

Motorola_DroidThe Motorola Droid is one of the most popular Android handset out there. The unlocked bootloader and the vanilla Android experience made it a favorite in the United States. Motorola did launch a European version of the Droid – the Milestone. However, that phone was destined to meet doom right from the word go.

Unlike the Droid, the Milestone had a locked down bootloader. This meant that modding the phone was a very difficult job and it still is. While the original Droid got its Android 2.2 update right after a few weeks of Google announcing it, European Milestone owners are still waiting for their share of Froyo love.

Now, the European division of Motorola has posted on their Facebook wall that the company is still working ‘closely’ with operators and carriers to deliver the Android 2.2 update for the Milestone. The company says that they expect to roll out the update by Q1 of 2011.
With Motorola set to launch some killer handsets and tablets based on Nvidia Tegra 2 at the upcoming CES 2011, I wonder if the company will actually find it ‘useful’ to work on the Android 2.2 update for the Milestone.
